Did you know that in the Victorian era postmen were nicknamed “robins” because of their bright red uniform? And it was common for them to be depicted on Christmas cards delivering the Christmas post until some artists decided to depict a robin bird instead delivering letters with its beak.
The illustrations of robins grew in popularity so much that they eventually replaced the pictures of postmen and since then the robin has forever been associated with Christmas.
