Add a splash of colour to your Christmas tree for birds with these bright and cheery orange bird seed ornaments.
Simply cut of the top off an orange and scoop out the middle – you can scatter the pieces on the ground for your ground feeding birds to enjoy. Make a small hole in each side of the rind and thread some string or ribbon through in a loop for hanging.
Then fill the empty orange rinds with bird seed mix. Leave in the fridge to set, preferably overnight, until the mixture has hardened.
Then your ornaments are ready to hang. You could use any orange citrus fruit for this recipe; mandarins and satsumas are plentiful at Christmas and little hands may find them easier to handle.
